A good friend of mine is very sick. I am afraid to write just how sick she is. Writing it would make it too real.
She is focussed on her family right now. She does not have any energy for friends.
She is in the hospital; they are "trying to make her comfortable."
I want to visit, but am not sure she would welcome the visit. I will not go unless I know it is ok with her.
I wonder if I will get a chance to talk with her.
I am praying. I am hoping. But I am scared.

ReplyDeleteThat is a hard call.
I saw your letter to her and I cried with you.
I don't have any advice, just support and prayers.
Awwwww RivkA, I am so sorry to hear about your friend.
ReplyDeleteMy only advice to you is.... GO! Go see her!! Don't stay long. Perhaps even 10 minutes will be enough for her... or for you... or for both. But she will appreciate you being there, if for nothing else than to give her a kiss on the cheek & tell her you love her & then leave.
Go, my friend. Go.
Love you~ Andrea

So sorry to hear about your friend. I find it much harder to see people I love suffer than to suffer myself. If she is not up to a visit, write what you want to say. You want no regrets... praying for you, friend!
ReplyDeleteLiba -- support and prayers is enough
ReplyDeleteAndrea -- I wish it were that easy. It is difficult for me to get out and about. I am not able to just camp out at the hospital with the hope that she will be able to see me. I might wait for hours without seeing her at all. The "cost," for me, would be at least two days in bed, recovering from the outing. I will only invest that time and energy if I know I will see her.... Anyway, I will be in the hospital this Thursday and I will try to see her then.
Mindy -- that is a really good and practical suggestion. I don't know why I did not think of it! I will write her a letter and deliver it to her husband. He can give it to her when she is feeling well enough to read (or he can read it to her).
Mindy -- I wrote the letter (just writing it, helped). I will sit on it a day or two, just to make sure I feel good about it, then I will send it to her (or bring it, if I can).
ReplyDeleteMindy -- I sent the letter. Thank you so much for the suggestion! It really helped!!!
